Goverment gateway in claiming for pension

I have filled in a form for the goverment gateway to claim my OAP in May this year. I am almost 62. The problem is that they send an activation code by post and then you use this to activate it on line. After signing in , for the life of me I cannot find anywhere to input the activation code.
Help....hair is now falling out.:(

Why not just call the DWP and ask them?

I did it by phone as I gave up on their online site. I think I had to pay for the phone call but can't remember.

Are you claiming it late as I won't be 62 till the end of September and will be eligible on 6th March? Just asking as you say you are almost 62 and claiming in May.

I just received my ID and activation code and received an error code. When I phoned the with the error code they know all about it but don't know a timescale to fix it, they told me it's been a problem for weeks, yet it works for my wife.
Maybe it's because I was contracted out lol

If you are not 62 yet, its doubtful you will be eligible for your OAP this year.

'google' When am I eligible for my state pension. I think you may be in for a shock.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I have a female relative who won't be 62 until September but will be drawing State Pension from next month.

A woman born on 31 Dec 1951 will reach SPA on 6 September.

Thank you all , will have to try and ring them. i will be 62 in October and after checking on-line I am eligble on 6th May this year. It says on line that you do not get it if you do not claim. Might just try and fill in the form again .

It is very simple to do it on the phone and you can ask for weekly payment if you wish.

I recently had a problem logging on to the Gateway and managed to speak to someone who told me that it could be my browser. They said they were aware of an issue with Google Chrome.

Sure enough, it had always worked before when I'd used Internet Explorer but more recently I'd changed over to Google Chrome.

Using IE again, temporarily, solved the log-in problem.
  • Hi, I actually work at a Pension Centre on State Pension new claims. We are having LOADS of complaints about it. I have to say it is 10x quicker and easier to do it over thephone. All of my customers experiencing the same issues as you have agreed! Usually takes approx 10 minutes to claim your pension, 15 max.

We are looking into improving SPonline as it is fairly new.
