Foundation degree any funding for 20 yr old

Hi I have a live at home son (Wales) age 20, does not work, who wants to do a 3 year foundation degree which is 1 day a week at college plus one day per week placement for 3 years, will there be any financial help available for him I have tried looking at stundent finace wales website but I am totally confused! Help I need to plan for this thanks

    He can take out a student loan to pay the fees but there's no maintenance funding available as he's expected to be supporting himself by work or benefits.

    If he could do the course full time he would receive the funding package of loans and grants, partly assessed on your income.

    It may be the course is actually designated as a full time course though. Can you post up a link to the course itself?

    You're right to check but I don't think I've come across a full time foundation degree that takes three years. Hopefully the OP will confirm.

    Indeed, but the common theme with FD's is people mistaking the top-up year as being part of the course! Worth the double check I think.

    That definitely says that it's part time so what I wrote at the start still stands. The course grant is higher than it would be in England (depending on the means testing) but it's intended to cover materials and travel costs rather than maintenance.

    Your son really needs to be looking at a part time job to support him while he does this course.
