What insurance???

Hi,
My husband is a 36 year old Self employed builder, he also does mountain biking, and powerkiting as a hobby. We are looking to insure his income should he have an accident at work or on his bike etc...but I am not sure what type of insurance we need. As I only work part time (child) we would need cover to start straight away should he have an accident...do such things exsist??
We have a mortgage of £650 per month,
