Lion Head Knocker

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place to post but seemed the most appropriate. I've come into a brass lion head knocker. Seem to commonly be known as a 10 downing st knocker. It's in used condition, haven't attempted to clean it up.

Found these auctions on ebay which I thought was pretty similar.

The brass is quite detailed and on the back of the striking plate it has a logo which i've drawn an amateur sketch of. It also has initials RD.

Obviously I know i'm not going to get rich off this but just wondered if anyone knew anything about it. Also the best avenue for selling it...

Thanks all

Obviously from ebay its not worth £50 because it didnt sell.

    No bids at £24.99 either.

Yours looks quite new, Not much patina to it. Still shiny. Painted material?

Prices from £3.00 or so and they sell for this sort of money..

Just be warned that B and Q sell a very chunky, and very nice version of this now for £16.99, I had to get one for someone the other day.

There are also los of them on Amazon

I have sold one of these for good money though in the past, but I had a bit of provenance for it and I had the original fixing bolts which were not of modern design at all.

You might get some info from these guys if you're interested in the knocker itself rather than just the value http://antiquedoorknockers.co.uk/index.php but I doubt they would buy it off you unless it turns out to be a lot rarer than it appears to be.

Thanks for the links. Just going over that antique one now. I doubt it's anything special either. It is, however definitely the '10 downing st model'. They seem to retail at about 50 on that amazon site. It's more the plate that intrigues me tbh.
