in Credit cards
Hello everyone.
So I finally took the plunge and decided to order a Macbook via Apple's website using their finance option.
I applied yesterday evening, and since the initial email, have heard nothing. How long do I wait? The website order status tracker just says "Awaiting Payment" but when I press the ? key to find out further, it just explains all the payment options, nothing specific to my order.
I rung the number on the website and it's closed. There is no email option. I won't be able to ring the number tomorrow - I'll be stuck at work.
I have good credit - it rates in the "excellence" column of CreditExpert - but that is about the extent of my knowledge in credit history.
Am I just overzealous and excited? Or should I hold out longer?

you mate rate bad though with barclays, ignore credit expertDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

OK, well how would I check that then? (My personal banking is through Barclays)0

You'll find out if you rate good or bad with Barclays if they accept your Apple application.
Best and only thing you can do is wait it out for a decision. They'll get back to you when they've processed your application.
The 'excellent' rating is CreditExpert's perception of your credit file - since they aren't a bank nor do they provide decisions to any financial applications, their rating means absolutely nothing. Every bank is different on how they determine whether your credit file is 'excellent' or not.
EDIT: The fact that they didn't give you a decision there and then probably means that they've referred your application to an underwriter. They'll do this if you either apply outwith business hours or if their system can't decide for whatever reason (perhaps you are borderline acceptance/fail or there is some particular detail needing confirmed manually by a human).
If it's declined then you could always consider opening an account with Next to purchase it, provided you are given a large enough credit limit. I'd personally stay away from any Shop Direct Group catalogues (Littlewoods, Very etc) as their products are stupidly overpriced, Next however do charge interest though it could work out much cheaper depending on how fast you can pay it off. We’ve had to remove your signature. I got a Macbook Pro before Christmas and when I put in the order I immediately got a "provisional" acceptance but had to wait until the next day for a call from Barclays. They asked a few questions to verify I was who I said I was. The following day the status changed from "awaiting payment" to "processing".
I just checked the current financing, 14.9% representative...you should have pulled the trigger a bit earlier since it was %0 in December.0 -

I think you'll find that ALL the Apple products in the Very catalogue are in-line with the Apple store prices.
The OP will get a further 10% off the price when opening an account
as well as being able to pay for it over 12 months interest free.
I agree that Littlewoods catalogue is over priced, but you can spread the payment over a longer period, which reflects it's price.
Many of the products in the Very catalogue are overpriced, also many of the products you will find are cheaper than anywhere else.
This is an option for the OP if the Apple finance fails.0 -

I stand corrected and actually very surprised, especially with a popular product like MacBook. It's been that long since I had a look around their website! We’ve had to remove your signature. I have the macbook pro, look up electric shocks on googleDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Agreed about Very. I bought my MacBook Pro from Very with 10% off first order and just over 7% cashback via topcaskback and paid it in three instalments so to avoid interest.
As about you can get BNPL.Bad luck breeds bad luck.
Damn I'm doomed.0 -
Thanks for the advice everyone, if I am declined by Apple, I will look at those other options.
I managed to phone Apple in my break yesterday - they said I should have received two emails from Barclays to move forward with the credit check - I hadn't, so Apple are going to chase it up and get them resent - but not until Monday, so here's hoping!0
