Very (Shop Direct Group)

Hi,

I am new to the boards so I apologise if this is in the wrong place.

I have had an account with Very (catalogue part of Littlewoods/shop direct) for about 8 years, aside from a little blip about 3 years ago my payments have always been on time.

My balance has been up and down over the years and is currently about £1000 but I have a limit of £6,500!!

Anyway, yesterday I paid £579 off my buy now pay later items. Today, I ordered £74 worth of bedding and it came up with 'We are unable to process your order now, this has been sent to our referral team for review' It gave a number to call to chase it up.

I rang immediately and they said it was nothing to worry about and the order had now gone through. He then told me to ensure at least my minimum payments are made on time every month??? I have paid on time every month since the aforementioned blip 3 years ago. Not only that but I have been making overpayments for the last 6 months or so. I told him that and he said the referral was 'just one of those things'

Can anyone shed any more light on this? I have Googled it but can't seem to find much info. I know he said all is fine but stuff like this makes me worry!

Yeah, I'm ex-staff and see this often, it comes up "Credit Check" basically Underwriting look at the account and see if they want to extend you further credit.

But the whole speach is so they don't get marked down for silence in the call.

Thanks for that. But do you mean, they want to see if they will honour the order or if they want to up my limit?

If the first, is there a trigger for that or is it just random?

I have a 4K limit with K and Co, had the account for years. I made an order online for a laptop. My order was referred as well. I phoned and asked why the referral, I had changed my address the previous month and was told the order was referred to check it was me that had placed the order. Simple yes to K and Co and order approved. No issue.
