Why can't I access BBC website?

It's very bizarre. I can't get access to BBC News / Sport (although the weather and other bbc sites are OK) as the connection times out (it does work though about 5% of the time).

I do not get this with any other site. And the site isn't barred in anyway (not intentionally). So why the BBC site, and what could the problem be?

I'm stumped!

Thanks in advance.

Could be a problem with the site itself (unlikely though). Have you tried the usual fixes? (clearing browser cache, restarting browser, restarting router/modem connection, restarting computer)

Yup tried the standard fixes, no problems. It's been happening for months, but only now really started annoying us. It's not the BBC having problems. I have no ideas...?

I have to use ie & firefox throughout the day, and it is the same with both. All 3 computers on our network have the same problem.

Incidentally, I am listening to Radio 2 streamed from the BBC website with no problems.

It is just BBC News & Sport (which I guess are the busier portals?)

Does http://212.58.226.20/ work? That's the IP address of news.bbc.co.uk.

If it works, click Start - Run - ipconfig/flushdns - OK and try the site again. Otherwise, are these computers in your work place? How is the network configured?

    Nope, same problem, can't access.

These are computers in our small office. Our internet connection comes from a 'communal' router with no problems. The other 2 offices that share the internet connection are hooked onto MACS and have no connection problems for the BBC.

Try rebooting the router. If there isn't a reboot button, switch it off for 60 seconds and on again.
