Windows 8 - cannot connect to wifi

Hi everyone,
I just wondered if someone can help - I have a new hp laptop with windows 8 - everything was working fine with the wifi - Now it is not! I connected to another wifi yesterday (not sure if this is relevant)
I have done a windows diagnostics - it says...
"wifi" doesn't have a valid IP configuration
Problem with wireless adaptor or access point
a network cable is not properly plugged in
The wireless is working, as I can connect with another laptop -
Any ideas??

Is your lap top trying to connect to the other one
have you tried viewing the available wifi devices and make sure it's trying to connect to yours?0 -
Yep its def trying to connect to my wifi
Its just saying now that wifi doesnt have valid IP configuration0 -
Are you using WPA security?
If so, try changing the encryption type to TKIP rather than AES or TKIP/AES. Don't know why it makes a difference but I had a similar problem with Win 8 and trying to connect wirelessly to a VM Superhub (which has crap wireless capability anyway).I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
