Life Insurance Discussion

I'm 46 and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis last year. I've never had income protection insurance, relying on life insurance to cover the mortgage. Now that I need income protection to cover the bills and other financial obligations in case I become disabled I can't get it. Nobody'll touch me with a bargepole. The RA will be exluded from the policy but seeing as having RA opens me up to a host of other diseases and illnesses which will also be excluded there's not much left to insure.
The MSE website details brokers who can help in 'special circumstances' but none of them can help so why do they say they can? This site gave me false hope.
One company who contacted me has particular reference to bad backs on their website yet told me nobody'll actually cover a bad back. Why's it on their website then?
Very depressed, very frustrated and very, very worried for the future.0 -

I'm surprised MSE has any links to specialist insurers. I was under the impression MSE only recommended a few discount sites for handling the clean health and simple cases.

I have been advised to take out life insurance on my (almost) ex husband to safeguard payments that he is responsible for (although if he defaults on the payments i would become responsible for) over the next 4 years. I need to cover about £8000 in the event of his death. Do you have any suggestions?
Family Income Benefit is usually the most viable option for those separating but wanting to ensure maintenance payments are made. I would speak to a fiancial adviser though to ascertain your requirementsI have been in the insurance industry for the past 6 1/2 years (protection products)
