Do you need to keep the money in one of their "market leading" savings accounts?

Though think of the opportunity cost relative to putting your money in better accounts or investments elsewhere.

Why do you want one anyway?

I've been offered the premier account too (currently have an ordinary HSBC account), but think I might have to agree with the quote from tom188

The HSBC interest rates are hopeless and I am probably looking to invest my savings money elsewhere. Really not sure that HSBC's 'IFA' or 'multi-tied financial planner' offered investments would be that great.

I am a HSBC Premier customer, most of the previous posts have covered the main benefits. The service is generally very good but the savings rates are woeful. That said some of their investment products are excellent and in return for a small amount of risk offer great rewards.

The Premier credit card offers a rate of about 11% which is excellent if you carry a balance. I would say that the Premier account is worth having but it is really not worth keeping a large amount of liquid cash in one of their savings accounts just to qualify.
Money is a wise mans religion
