Central Heating Advice Please

Options
Hi there

After a power cut last night, I can't get my central heating working. The boiler is on and appears to be working fine, as we have hot water and the gas hob works fine, just no heating.

I think the problem is to do with the thermostat, as usually when I turn the temperature up on that there's a click, the boiler fires up and the radiators heat up quickly, but now, there's no click and the boiler doesn't fire up.

The thermostat is a danfoss infrared one and what I presume is the receiver is a danfoss rx1 model. There are two buttons on this labelled PROG and CH1. There is a red light on constantly above CH1. (I don't know if this was the case before last night though). From googling, I found out that I should press both buttons at once to reset the unit. I've done this and a green light flashes over PROG, but then the red light stays on and nothing happens.

Does anyone have any advice? I have an engineer coming on Monday morning, but it's really cold at the moment.

Thanks.

I've no advice about resetting your thermostat but isn't there some way you can override it in the meantime to get some heat? some switch on either the boiler or receiver

There doesn't appear to be anything obvious. I've had a look through the instruction manual for the boiler, but it's all gobbledygook to me. When my OH gets home he'll hopefully be able to make a bit more sense of it.

Try pressing the one with the red light again, may go off and then press again to get on, either that or its lost it connection and programme, in which case you may need to reinitiate the signal by following the user instructions!

Look here for instructions if you dont have them and you will need to know the model of the receiver!

    Has the timer reset?

My central heating timer goes back to 0.00 if we have a power cut and needs resetting every time.

Rikki, this is an RF model where the data is stored in the controller which is battery powered, which then transmits the data to a receiver!
A power cut wont affect the data in the controller!
The problem is a transmission problem to the receiver, which is not receiving for some reason?

To state the obvious, the synch has been lost due to the powercut. Is the battery flat in the controller?
Have you tried the simple stuff like powering the boiler down and then back on again?

Sorry for the slow reply, I popped to argos to pick up a wee fan heater to help me defrost.:rotfl:

I've followed the instructions to sync the thermostat to the receiver. The light on the receiver flashes green as though it's worked, but then nothing...

I've turned the power supply to the boiler off and on a couple of times, but it's not making any difference.

I'm not sure about batteries, there doesn't seem to be any. The system was only installed last May, would the batteries need replaced already? The thermostat is the round dial style and the display is still working.
