Setting up direct debit on Paypal, Post Office account address

Options
Hi,

I'd like to verify my Paypal account by setting up a direct debit to the bank account I've just registered, which is a PO internet savings account.

When I get to the direct debit screen in Paypal, I have to enter the bank's address. The bank name is already automatically filled in, which is "Bank of Ireland" (who control the PO account).

But what should I put for the rest of the address? The Bank of Ireland's UK address? (I don't know what it is but could easily Google it), or the address of the PO savings account? (which is just a PO Box number in Welwyn Garden City).

I don't want to enter the wrong details and have the direct debit submission fail...

Thanks for any help.

  • I'm guessing it would be the contact address on the website (?)
    Not sure tbh.
  • I'm still not sure either ... As I don't have a branch as such, with it being an internet-based account, you'd think I'd just put the bank's main address... But is my "bank" the Post Office or the Bank of Ireland? As mentioned, on the direct debit form it automatically fills it in as "Bank of Ireland"(based on the sort code), but I don't feel very sure about putting their address seeing as my account is actually a Post Office one.

If anyone has a clearer idea about this please let me know!

Neither. You can't set up direct debits with a PO bank of Ireland account.

Hmm, that doesn't seem right as I already have a direct debit set up between my other bank account and the PO one.

Which account do you have? If it can be done, the address is not a huge deal for paypal. They verify it, or used to, by depositing a small amount using the sort code and account number.

They still do this. Two small deposits (pennies).
