When on holiday in San Francisco I bought some Ugg boots, however, less than 4 months later a hole has appeared on the top part of the boot. I emailed the shop and explained this and apparently as I've "worn them out for a good four months" there is nothing they can do as it's general wear and tear? I disagree with this and have emailed them back, and also the Ugg website, saying that they are meant to be "fit for purpose and last a reasonable amount of time" which I don't believe these did. I just wanted to make sure that I am correct and if there is anything else I can do as I am very unhappy with the outcome?

Unless you go back to San Francisco to fight your corner you are stuck with the outcome. You have no recourse against anyone over here.0

Remember you are dealing with the USA where consumer rights are massively lower than they are in the UK (one of the reasons why prices are lower).
Did you buy them from the Ugg store or from a third party company?
Ugg themselves deal with faulty items even if you bought them from another retailer than one of their stores and give a 12 month warranty in the USA. Have you approached either Ugg UK or USA?0 -
I have used the contact form on the Ugg UK website and I am just waiting for a reply.
I bought them from a 3rd party retailer, but it was a reputable shop not one man and his suitcase!LBM 14/12/06 £21,947.17 DEBT FREE 12/04/09

I bought mine from a Los Angeles UGG outlet and when my pair ripped in the back after the second/third wear, I e-mailed Ugg Australia and they were great.
Although this was a while ago and looking at their website now, it says:
"If the product was purchased in one of our concept stores or authorised retailers, you will need to return to the store where the purchase was originally made, we cannot exchange or refund purchases made elsewhere than www.uggaustralia.co.uk."
Still worth a shot though!
Also, I disagree with InsideInsurance, I have found the Customer Serivce in the USA so much better than the UK. Companies seem to care so much more about customer loyalty than over here in the UK.
If you have no joy with Ugg, I would probably then complain to the head office of the company you purchased them from0 -

InsideInsurance didn't say USA customer service was worse than here in the UK, he/she said consumer rights.
A very different thing.InsideInsurance wrote: »Remember you are dealing with the USA where consumer rights are massively lower than they are in the UK (one of the reasons why prices are lower).0
