Item not fit for purposes problem.

Hi,

I purchased a new wireless router at the end of November 2012 from Scan Computers (via their Ebay site).

I only opened the product last weekend to start configuring it (I was upgrading my network, so it wasn't an urgent replacement, just something on offer at a good price at the time).

Anyway, the product has numerous issues and isn't as advertised by the manufacturer.

1. Guest Access with restrictions doesn't work
2. Intermittently drops internet connection.
3. Doesn't work with iPhones running iOS6.

Initially, I contacted Netgear support for assistance and was advised to upgrade firmware, which I promptly did, but still no resolution to the issues. This has now been raised to engineering level and I'm still waiting for an answer, after the support guy said he didn't think item 1 was available on this model, even though it's advertised on their website and one of the reasons for purchase.

I have contacted Scan, whom have said, they can't do anything until Netgear confirm the feature isn't present and then give me in writing confirmation and then they will take up the process of handling it.

At the moment, I'm in limbo with a device that isn't fit for purpose and a supplier telling me they can't intervene until the manufacturer has dealt with it.

I'm not looking for a replacement as this model, clearly isn't as advertised by the manufacturer, and I'm not particularly looking for a refund. I would be quite happy to spend a few more pounds and get a different device that does the job it advertises to do.

Any advise on how I could progress this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark
