Alliance&Leicester interest rate

Does anyone know what savings (as opposed to overdraft) interest rate is applied to the Santander (formerly A&L) Premier Direct current account, it is the one with free insurance. It is like finding a needle in a haystack on the Santander site icon9.gif Thanks.

You're right about the needle in a haystack. I still can't see the interest rate for one of my accounts in there. I suggest you do what I did - log on to online banking and send a secure message asking them to confirm the interest rate and telling them that you can't find it in their interest rate tables. Suggest to them that they should display the interest rate on the statement page every time you log in to OLB. Maybe one day they'll get the message.
  • OP, I had a Premier Direct Travel account and believed the interest rate was 1% up to £2500 this is after after the introductiory bonus, this link confirms it

However Santander have recently changed their T&C's and reduced the rates to zero on most if not all of their current accounts except the 123. I think they did this to try to entice people to convert to the 123 account. It certainly worked on me as that is what I did.

It's £1 per day for arranged overdraft capped at 20 days each monthly statement period and £5 per day for unarranged overdraft effective from 21 Jan. From 22 Feb no credit interest. PM me and I can send you a copy of the changes letter.

It also tells you under the balance on the first page of a paper statement.
