Advice on blacklisted phone sold to me

Ask him directly exactly why it was blacklisted.

There is no need to get involved with what potentially could be the person who either stole ... or found the phone or is the one potentially handling stolen goods.Have you tried asking him why it was blacklisted.
Paypal has returned the money...the OP could keep the phone but morally should make every attempt to find it's true owner.:footie:
