I don't know the hotel but will comment on the location. It's in the "city", business-y part of London, certainly not within easy walking distance from the night spots in the West End. So if you plan to go out in the evenings, you may prefer to be somewhere in the W1 or WC postcodes instead.
Mizz_Pink, most of the restaurants on Brick Lane are much of a muchness, and the food is really not that brilliant, IMHO.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I like the Hoxton - have stayed there 3 times now. The rooms are a good size, nice bathroom and, probably because it is pretty new, very very clean.

I haven't eaten in their restaurant but it looks nice and the downstairs area has some comfy settees and, when it is cold obviously, a big roaring fire. I have only stayed at weekends and it has always seemed to be couples staying there - probably more of a "business" hotel in the week. It is close to a tube station and a bus stop so no real problems getting round.

I must admit I have not been for a curry in Brick Lane for about a year. About 7 or so years ago I used to go there at least once a week and there were two particular restaurants that I really liked but it has all changed there now. There are so many restaurants there that I am sure some of them must do a decent meal but without a recommendation you would be taking a chance. I did go for a lovely curry at Seven Dials (near Covent Garden) a couple of months ago but unfortunately do not know the name of the restaurant or the road!! Will see if I can find out before July if you are interested? Mind you, myself and OH are vegetarian so cannot speak for any meals containing meat!
The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie
