Kindle Fire Advice Please

Hi, some advice needed please on Kindle Fire HD or alternative, my eight year old wants a Kindle Fire, have spent a few hours trawling through here and other websites and see that some think its great but a lot prefer the nexus 7, which at £200 is a bit out of range, would prefer to spend around £160, can anyone advise if they would stick to the Kindle or pay a little more for the nexus or if there is another alternative in the price range, we already have a pc and laptop so it is just wanted as something games, music etc can be played on, as all her friends have now got them.

Kindle fire is just a portable for Amazon. Nexus is much better.
