Posted this in another thread before I noticed this one.

    Hi everyone
To help we'll be removing the ability to put the end date in titles this afternoon.

How can it be considered "help" to remove something that the vast majority* of people who post comps want kept? With "help" like that I would hate to see what your hindrance is like.

It is also not just about end date searches, if you have saved posts in favourites to enter later then without the end-date in the title there is no way of knowing the date without opening every post (unless you amend every title as you save them).

    *by competitions posted.

I just don't see why we at least can't still have the dates in the title. Does that interfere with how the end date tool would work?

My guess is people were not using their new shiny toy (sorry tool) so they have resorted to forcing it on them by preventing the old style titles, a touch of the "it's my ball syndrome" or "we gave you the illusion of choice, you chose the wrong one so the illusion has to be removed"
  • Can we have the option to post in the title, its such a pain logging entries and to see when competitions end now

Is anyone from MSE actually reading these feedback threads?

It seems that changes were made and now nobody is saying anything.

A big company makes a change that affects lots of people (many of whom actually supply the majority of the content that the affected service depends on) without proper consultation or explaining why. The company then refuses to respond to requests for a compromise or clarification.

Surely the thing to do is to raise the issue on the forum of a website with a long and proud reputation for standing up to big corporations for ordinary people who are being mistreated.

Oh hang on, I've just seen a problem with that....

Guys, as much as I hate to say this, the site has changed since the takeover. It's gradually losing that 'family' feel we all knew and loved. It's losing it's personal feel and that isn't down to increased footfall, it's simply down to the running of the site.

There's been a few site changes that haven't gone down well with the user base but they're here to stay regardless.

It's a shame but the wheels of 'progress' (use that word loosely :D) stop for no man so it's either 'get with the program' or move on to pastures new.

I don't visit the comps board regularly so the changes wont affect me, but I can understand the frustration felt by those that do and just wanted to post in support.

I am annoyed that you now don't get the end dates in search results, as I search for comps by prize and name of magazine etc, not by end date. So now I can't see how long I've got to enter.

It seems like technical details are over-ruling common sense.

Why can't we use both systems?
