Printer - paper feed problems

I have a Lexmark X4550 printer.

Over the past few weeks it has been failing(most of the time) to 'pick up' and feed the paper into the printer properly.

Sometimes it completely fails to 'pick up' the paper and I get the error message telling me to load more paper.

Sometimes it feeds in 3 inches of paper and 'prints' without any further feeding of the paper and I get an error message that it has a paper jam.

Also it can also pick up the paper and only print the bottom half of the page.

The paper is the same as I have always used, not damp or sticking and it has the same fault(s) even if a single sheet is in feeder.

Any ideas please?

Try cleaning the rollers if you can get to them - they sometimes get shiny with dust etc and stop gripping. A good rub with a thumb is often enough or a gentle rub with the green side of a kitchen sponge /scourer.

It is getting at them that is the problem. I can just about reach with a cotton bud taped to a pencil - I'll give that ago with some the tip wetted.

Dampen a piece of card with cleaner, or a few sheets of paper and feed them through

Can you not get to the rollers to reach jams? It is unusual for rollers to be so inaccessible.

Alternatively you can get printer roller cleaner sheets, places like Amazon do them.
