Office Relocation

Hi Everyone
Today me and my colleges have been advised that the business has decided to relocate our office from London to Bracknell.
They have advised us that they want us to stay but if we do not wish to then we would be given redundancy. However none of us have worked for the company for more than two years and do not qualify for any redundancy.
They have also said to us we have until Friday the 8th to make a decision. This does not seem to decide and it was not explained to us exactly what would happen if we had yet to make a decision by this date. I have asked but no response.
Are they allowed to impose such a short time limit?
Are there any processes that they should be taking?
Thank you for your help
Regards
Andy

Are they going to pay you all travelling money or arrange for a bus to ship you to Bracknell ?.Never Knowingly Understood.

Hi Patman
They have been vague about what they will pay, but they said that they would cover the extra expenses incurred permanently. We would still be required to make our own way into work (thats fine).
So I currently pay £409 a month for a ticket from Eastbourne to Victoria. They will pay the difference of that and my new cost.
However I pointed out that I would have to drive instead and asked would they still cover the difference.
My main question is should they be giving us longer to make a decision. 8 days to say yes or no seems like a short amount of time. Also if I say "I have not decided yet" are they then able to make their own decision?
Thanks

If there are less than 20 people being affected there is no minimum length for consultation. If 20-100 then it would be 30 days0

Thanks Andy
So if I have not made a decision by Friday the 8th as requested are they allowed to make me redundant?0 -
Yes, although they will have to give you the appropriate amount of notice (1 week for<2 years service unless your contract specifies more)0

Are you able to move? Eastbourne to Bracknell is a long way every day. Some nice places to live surrounding the area if you are able to up sticks and rent. There is always the option of a weekly rent monday to Friday which can also work well and probably work better than petrol costs0
