Did the jobcentre give you a P45 to give to your new employer? Or did you complete a P46?
Have you been sent a Notice of Coding?
You can contact HMRC http://search2.hmrc.gov.uk/kb5/hmrc/contactus/view.page?record=hpkspulskxM0 -

You may not pay tax this year. If you will earn under the limit by April then it will not be applicable. So when or if will depend on earnings to date, JSA was taxable for myself but this was NI based.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0

What were the details on the P45 ie ammount paid and what have your earnings been so far?0

With a tax code of 810L, you can earn £8100 a year before you pay any tax. So unless and until you have earned that much, you won't pay any tax."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

That is the figure that you can earn in the full year, as we are not yet at the tax year end the figure is lower than that at the moment. Payments between Jan 25 to 31 inclusive would fall in week 43 and at that point if total taxable earnings were below 6705.85 then no tax would be due. If earnings were above this at that point then tax would be due.0 -

Does that £8100 include the money that i got on JSA before i started work ? i got something like £2000 on JSA if i am correct0 -
You need to add up all taxable income so the P45 figure plus earnings so far in your new job. If this is more than your tax free allowance then you should be paying tax. Your tax free allowance will not be £8100 untill April 5 as at tax week 43 it is 6705.85
Does your payslip show a taxable gross to date figure, this should equal your P45 plus earnings in this job?0
