Bankers and Dissolving a Company

OH and me have had a company, which hasnt traded for 12-months.

We have decided to close it using the DS01 form.

Do we need to write to the company's bankers before or after filing the DS01 form? At what point do we need to close the bank account?

Before you send in the DS01. Once your company is struck off it ceases to exist, and any money left in your bank account becomes crown property.

thanks. the bank account was last used 14-months ago and has about 21p in it. Should we still write to them to close the account or will they be automatically notified once the DS01 is filed?

Are there any advantages/disadvantages of not writing directly to the bankers and waiting in this situation of 21p?
