    I've been Money Tipped!
I take: vit C and zinc and echinacea daily, reason being during winter I increase the dosage to keep cold and flu's at bay as I found I was constantly having to stop training (gym) due to some nasty bug which I most probably caught at the gym! That's my theory anyway, so far so good..... Touch wood!

The minute my kids start coughing/sneezing I give them the same and it does the trick!

I take a Well Woman multi vit daily plus a folic acid tablet. I take metformin which can inhibit the uptake of folate from the diet. I was really unwell back in august, and a blood test showed my folate level was less than half the recommended minimum level.
  • I take a supermarket own brand multivitamin, a fish oil capsule and now a glucosamine tablet. I feel better taking them, I have super stiff joints - especially in my fingers and particularly at night/when waking up and have been recommend the glucosamine for that so hopefully that will help - only been taking it a couple of days so no clue yet!

Very likely. Apart from the air born nasties that people cough about, you are touching handles/dumbells etc handled by many people. It just takes one to have a dose of norovirus (or whatever) on their hands before they used the equipment then you come along and get it onto your hands.
I wear those fingerless leather gloves whilst there but still wash my hands well before I leave.

I take a flaxseed omega 3+6+9 along with Multibionta and Biokult probiotics.
I take them as I have health issues, I was diagnosed with ME 5 ish years ago so feel I could do with the extra help. I have seen an improvement in some issues since taking them especially skin issues.
I have been taking flaxseed oil for about 20 years, long before it was ever known to help ME. Flaxseed is an omega 3 oil mainly. Omega 6 are not so beneficial to anyone because they are largely imbalanced in the modern diet and can have negative effects.

I eat quite a bit of yoghurt, I make my own from various capsules. Bacillus subtilis seems very good, I get some cultured from a multi bacteria capsule but I want to find a single source of it. In animals it has been shown to increase the villi size and generally has beneficial effects when fed to animals.

It's used in Japanese Natto and can be very beneficial when used to ferment food such as cabbage. I've heard some good things about fermented foods so I intend trying it myself when I find a way to keep it warm enough. There is a yoghurt maker called yolife with a large canopy which looks fairly good and might be useful. ATM I use a moulinex yoghurt maker.

Yoghurt and dietary fibre, especially insoluble fibre can make a massive difference to a persons immune function. I used to get every cold and flu going around until I started eating yoghurt and since then I never get any colds or infections. On one occasion I had a friend coughing over me, with the flu he'd had for a week and when I went home my arms and legs were aching and my throat was sore. I went to bed thinking that I would wake up with flu and when I woke up, nothing at all.

I have been taking Biocare multi vit & min with lutein and bilberry but I want to find a divided dose vitamin/min because I prefer those over the single dose types.

I've recently started Nattokinase & Serrapeptase but too early to know whether it's helping.

I have also been taking Ester-C from Holland and Barrett for many years and Siberian Ginseng for specific health reasons.

[+] from what I can see, the yolife yoghurt maker seems more expensive if purchased as a complete kit @£44.99, whereas purchasing the spare parts (£10 for main unit, £4.99 for large lid, £2.99 for small lid, £1 per jar=£7 and a £1 instruction manual which I wouldn't need=£24.98 adds up to far less. £20 extra for a 5 year warranty which is pretty much useless for a yoghurt maker IMO and maybe a "how to make yoghurt booklet" many such guides can be read on the web. The spare parts seems the wiser choice.

Hi thanks for the info, I never get colds either and I do think probiotics help lots of ailments no end. There is a new one which is said to reduce IBS called Symprove but I'm petty sure it could be used for anything even just general health, I would like to try it but bit expensive for me right now. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2150878/Drink-ease-IBS-misery-millions--2-stomach-treatment-available-shelves-near-you.html#ixzz21YFp87oD''

I don't have much milk as I don't like the taste and drink rice milk not sure if you can use Soya instead of milk? I have considered getting an Easiyo before for all the family's health.

I did try to make water kefir for some time but not sure I was successful and went back to probiotic capsules and I have tried loads of makes but the one I saw a difference with is Biokult, it survives stomach acid which a lot don't.

But I had itchy and dry skin patches and ridged nails which have cleared up and I generally feel a lot better. Could be placebo like anything I suppose.

I have a healthy diet, not enough fruit but good balance everywhere else.
  • I'm considering starting to take vitamins as I feel groggy a lot of the time and my diet is quite bad. Whilst doing research I found this
    http://www.multivitaminguide.org/best-multivitamin.html
I'm a bit dubious about how much truth is in it. What do you guys think? Solgar is the highest scoring one that is available in the uk but its very expensive

Centrum is the one I'm considering. Did you notice a difference Lilium when you started taking this?
  • I'm interested in this too.
In true MSE style - are any of the own brand ones any good? Does anybody know?

You get what you pay for really. Poundland sell them BUT each pill only contains about 5 vitamins and no minerals. You need a good one that contains all.
I like the holland and barratt ones as they often have the penny sale on which means you pay full price for 1 then get the other for 1p. So 240 days supply cost me about £9.05 I think.

Make sure you get one that has 14mg of Iron in, you ladies need that moreso than blokes.
