Does anyone know what "System Notification" is on Skype? They keep calling!

Keep getting calls from "System Notification" whenever I'm on Skype. I suspect it's spam so don't answer but does any know? They are unbelievably persistent - they call and call and call like every minute or so until I set my profile to invisible but then friends don't know I'm there!
