HELP! Sore red bumps after upper lip waxing!

  • I did learn the hard way that not waxing my top lip after a shower helps to prevent redness and skin irritation. That said, I'm walking around at the minute with a red 'scuff' above my lip from waxing yesterday!
  • I know I have extremely sensitive skin - doesn't matter what method of hair removal I use I get rashes/lumps/bumps/blotches etc. I usually find Savlon works well, I usually apply it every time I wax or such. I found that for me a lot of creams etc seemed to irritate my skin all the more.

I know what you mean about the creams. The Sudocrem felt like it was burning it. I actually wasn't able to sleep last night because of it.

I think what made it worse was that when I pulled the wax strips of I saw hardly any hair so I thought that it hadn't work so I used more strips twice more to see if any more came off :o. As I say, I don't actually think I had a tache! But I think going over the area a few times has upset the skin more.

Re my niece... she is the type to try and upset you despite the fact she's only 11. She's surprisingly adept at mind games. I was just worried that I was turning into the maiden aunt with a beard!

Oh yes you must only ever apply cream or wax once in a 24-48 hour period. Especially somewhere so sensitive as the upper lip.

My eyes are watering just at the thought!

I get some redness and soreness when doing the upper lip, I find dabbing a cotton wool pad which has been soaked in cold water on the area helpful.

Also just make sure the product is specifically for the face, Nair general works fine on my eyebrows with little redness, but I have to use Boots Facial Hair remover for my upper lip.

Uh-oh. What an idiot  I can't believe I went over it three times in 10 minutes.

It was the Nair sensitive strips for Face. At least I got that right!

I don't care if I sprout a full mountain man beard - I am NEVER doing this again.

The skin is all peeling now. I feel so self-conscious.
