Sorry if this is in the wrong section, my problem this

i am a member of credit experain and keep a close eye on my file every week i logged in to my credit experian account yesterday and found a brand new entry for credit agreement from virgin media saying i owe £534 from and old address nearly 8 years so the debt started they say in summer 2005 as i say its never once been on my credit file never have i been sent anything from virgin to say i owe them money this is the first to my nowlegde and thats because i found it on my file.

are they in the right do this??? I have spoken with virgin but they cant tell me much as the account bebt as its not been active for years all they had on screen was outstanding balance.

my worry is at the moment they will start updating it as non payments and defaults yet i know nothing about the debt

The information you view can only be up to 6 years old - I would query with them why old data is being displayed as this contravenes the DPA. Challenge it, and it will be up to Experian or VM to correct/remove this entry.
  • many thanks for your reply i will get on to both virgin and experian about it
  • I wouldn't anticipate a quick response from Virgin Media or Experian. I raised a dispute with Experian regarding my Virgin Media account back in October, still no response.

As soon as I get my response a complaint will be going in regarding them breaching the statutory requirements to resolve within 28 days.
Here to debunk myths and provide honest info about the CRAs.

If you've not heard from them since October, how did you complain? If you've had no response the chances are it will not be dealt with as it never reached the correct department.

Time to get things moving once more I think?
