Declined S&S ISA Due to credit reference agency ??

Just had a letter Declining to open a S&S ISA from a fund supermarket - why would I need to pass a credit check? I'm not asking for credit I want to give them some of my money!!

I do have some adverse credit including a CCJ on my history, all cleared now, but will be lurking on my credit file for another 2-3 years. Is this likely to stop me opening a S&S ISA anywhere?

was it a credit check, or just an identity check (sometimes called a money laundering check)? only the latter should be needed for a S&S ISA.

though if an ID check doesn't work, i'd expect them to ask you to provide documents as an alternative way of proving ID, not just to say no.

To be honest it looks just like the standard "get Lost" letter I get when I try to sign up to a proper credit card to replace my "non prime one"

I don't usually have problems with online ID checks, recently opened my Cash ISA online with no problems, and have started a new mobile phone contract within the last month - that was ID and credit checked and passed as I changed networks!

Strange. Well thier loss, tried another provider, HL Seem happy to have me as a customer, so they'll be getting my business instead!!
