    All those different methodologies and all that different data, and they are all within a couple of percent, it's pretty impressive really.

    They seem to have moved past conspiracy and on to the Scooby Doo defence....

    It wouldn't surprise me to see a demand led squeeze pushing up house prices for the next year or two. Hopefully the Tories' rule changes will mean that supply can react more easily to keep a lid on things in the mid term, especially when combined with limits on bank lending resulting from Basel III or what remains of it!

    I suspect more like the next decade or two....

    Maybe. The Tories seem to have introduced a series of laws that allow supply to react to demand. Hopefully, banks and builders can respond to rising prices by increasing the supply of houses rather than with the supply of mortgages.

    As ever, time will tell.
