I have a lovely little shrub in my garden - don't ask me what it is I haven't got the foggiest!
As I was rescuing the flower bed around it this evening, I noticed lighter green/yellow spots on the leaves. When I turned the leaves over, the spots on the other side are fluorescent orange and look a bit like mould. When I scratch at the spots, they come off but the leaf still has the paler spots underneath.
What is it? What can I do about it?

I think its rust. I looked in my book and it says that the rust is particular to a variety of plant, so it shouldn't spread to different plants.
Prune the diseased branch/stem, or burn and replace the plant. Don't compost it. You can get a spray for rust, I think usually for roses, so you might find something in the rose section.
Hope this helps!0 -
If it looks like this its rust

Something like Systhane or any other systemic fungicide should sort it out0 -
Just a small addition to ffloyds post, make sure you pick up any fallen leaves as this is liable to be a source of reinfection later. Throw the leaves in the waste bin or burn them, don't compost them.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I want to avoid pruning it if I can as I've already pruned it back quite a lot - the whole garden was really overgrown when we moved in - but it does seem to be on the majority of the plant. I'll give the fungicide a go.
Thanks for your help.0
