  • Bagged myself an all expenses paid 2 week trip to the USA with work!!! :j :j :D:D:D :T :T :T :j :j :j

In the process I’ve got myself a company Amex (no longer being out of pocket while waiting on expenses to clear!) and a laptop (meaning I can work from home every now and again and may no longer need a weekly bus pass!). Yay, life’s good.

I secretly wish I could fly economy and pocket the extra £2.5k that Business Class costs but hey ho, when am I ever flying Business Class again?! I may as well bl00dy enjoy it this time! :D
Wow, just make sure you do enjoy it! Need someone to carry your bags??;)

Feeling a bit more lively today so am cracking on with the following (am about half way through the list at the moment):

*Froze a portion of chicken stew....yes, the rubber chicken fights on! Last night, Mr Foxgloves uttered the never-before-heard words 'Babe, I've got too much dinner' (!!!) so he halved it up & into the freezer it's gone for another time.
*New car insurance docs arrived. Checked them to make sure we did get the reduced premium that was agreed on the phone. All seems correct.
*Seeds ordered from Thompson & Morgan using my £10 off voucher code. Apart from potato sets, shallot & red onion sets which we can buy very cheaply from our village garden centre, we're ready to go for this year's veggie growing.
*Small order from 'Book People' as they emailed a free p&p code. Was waiting for one of those to order a couple of things I'd spotted to put away for presents.
*Meal plans for next week (we can have an extra 100 calories a day from Saturday....way-haaaaaay!!!)
*Shopping list (the 3rd weekend we've hoped to use our nectar points for the grocery shop....both previous attempts scuppered by snow. Fingers crossed for this time!)
*Knit like mad.....laid out all my stripy hippyfied blanket squares & I only need another 27, then I can get it all crocheted together & into the camping box ready for some nice weather. I just want it finished now, so I can knit some other projects, like socks, as I can often sell those.
And now, not a money-saving thing, but I'm off to deliver a load of mail.....think the postman must have been sniffing the glue on the envelopes this morning as he seems to have shoved half the street's mail through our door. Oh well, it'd be a dull life if we were all perfect......

    Good Morning my lovelies

    Check www.freepostcodelottery.co.uk -

Ziggy - can you explain what this is please bcause when I click on your link it takes me to a site that doesn't seem to do much, mainly adverts - I am confused!!

Well today is PAYDAY!!! :j:j:T:T:j:j It feels like it's been a long time coming and finally account balance is back the right side of £0.00...

    - Checked accounts online.

    - All meals from stores.

    - Rang up British Discounts who have been taking almost £15 from me for 4 months it seems with me getting nothing in return - they have agreed to refund the lot and cancel my membership - I didn't know I was a member! All a bit dodgy methinks but sorted now.

    - Rang company I bought the gravel from that arrived yesterday - I paid for a specific delivery time but they came early and left a tonne of aggregate in my neighbour's parking space! So I had to move it pretty quickly when I came home so they could park. Have asked for a refund of the £25 as they obviously didn't come when they were supposed to. They are going to get back to me.

    - Was hoping to make use of my 2for1 cinema ticket tonight but think OH will be putting in some overtime instead :( but :T for more debt - busting cash coming our way!

Think that's about it - hope you all have a great rest of the day :)

  • Afternoon all !

Today is pay day so I need to check banking and pay some bills

    So far today I have
Popped into work locally to send an email about delaying my flexible working start date, due to leave and courses I am not really going to see any benefit from it so may aswell delay the reduction in pay !

Had a facial and massage not very DFW but was budgeted for

I did an online SM order last night in the hope that I was planning ahead and could keep a tab on how much I was spending but have still forgotten things so am going to one of the budget SM for the things I have forgotten. For the first time I have set myself a budget for food for the month and it appears I may have set an unrealistic target !

Lift to work for next three shifts so will not need to put any fuel in !

    Much love

    S x

Think it was meant to be .com rather than .co.uk as the site http://freepostcodelottery.com/ looks rather more like what was mentioned :) Is it legit?

  • Grrrrrrr, whilst checking online banking and reconciling cash book, lodger announces there is something wrong with washing machine.

Now last time there was something wrong with it, it was after he used it, and I got a plumber out and have just paid the bill. I used washing machine last night and it was fine. He has used it this morning and it is broken again. A very grumpy S

Determined not to have to pay a plumber again so will just have to try and enlist help of friends to fix

    :hello: Hi today I've:

:D Been to work. Did half an hour overtime at lunchtime and claimed it.

:D Taken a cup-a-soup and bread to work. Free drinks from the vendy.

:D Read money news online. (Guardian Link)

:D Encouraged OH to keep doors closed when the room is warm.

:D Used online RadioTimes instead of buying paper one. (Link)

:D Checked whether OH is paying too much interest on savings. (Link)

:D Check whether OH had filed self-assessment tax return ahead of tonight's deadline. We didn't want a £100 fine. (What to do if you've suddenly remembered you haven't done yours. Link)

:D Used www.0800buster.co.uk again to call an 0800 number directly from my mobile at no cost. Read the Disclaimer on the left before using! This service works just fine for me.

:D Warn OH not to use anymore internet on mobile this month.

    SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT:

 My job involves dealing with loss and theft and there's one thing I want to share. Lots of us prefer to use cash as a way of controlling our finances, me included. This means we have a bit of cash sitting in our purse or hidden around our homes perhaps in piggy banks or jars.

Some home insurance companies are reluctant to pay out for loss or theft of cash from your person or home as it's hard to prove it was there in the first place. And if you do claim on your insurance your policy will likely cost more next year.
If someone steals your card and uses it the bank will, usually, refund you without penalty. If someone steals 50 £1 coins from you, you have a much harder job getting that £50 back.

For this reason, I've now decided not to keep any more cash in my purse/at home than I need to, even though I love the cash economy.
Just my opinion. Makes you think...

And for the senseo - may I recommend the purchase (yes, purchase *gasp* :P) of a "coffeeduck"? It's a reusable pod that you put your own (vastly cheaper) ground coffee into :)

Gets you out of having to buy senseo pods all the time for it :)
