Thursday 31st January 2013 - What small DFW things will you do today??

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:
Morning!
Feeling fat today but it was worth it! Mum ordered dominos last night, we did it through topcashback so hopefully we will get the cash back and technically made £1 profit!
Also, I finally completed the ACCA ethics module! Took 2 hours! But needed it for the advanced diploma in accounting so glad I've got it out of the way! Just beed to pass 2 more exams before I have that
Next I have to do PER (lots of questions to prove you've actually been doing accountant stuff!!), will start on that today.
List for today:
Have a good one! Xxx

            Morning all!
Thanks for starting us off bt1
Payday today, just tallied up my budgets for the month. Thinking of trying to leave in the bank only the amount for direct debits, then lifting all the cash for food, fuel etc etc. That way I actually see the money we have and are spending, rather than switching everything. Will see if this works out better.
Aiming for a NSD, we need coffee though, don't think there is enough to last til tomorrow
Checked banking, all okay
Do swagbucks, onepoll, check freebies and competitions
All food from stores, brought in some spicy lentil soup for lunch
Do more of my christmas tree cross stitch during lunch break
Can't think of anything else, have a good day everyone :TCan't think of anything smart to put here...0 -
well, after my fairly successful shopping trip yesterday, I feel fairly positive (not to mention it's pay day and I appear to have got my Christmas on-call allowances)
So things I've done and to do -
Pack. Pack. Pack. Pick up keys tomorrow.
Youth group tonight
Take remote control car round to lady buyer (sold locally for £20)
Fill car with diesel (bah)
Give son money for work and haircut (bah again)
Get dinner out of freezer for tomorrow
Funny enough, I'm so used to it now, I regard making lunch for DS and myself in the same way as brushing my teeth or whatever. DW (is that allowed?) is so fussy and changes her diet with the wind, so I am only allowed to make her dinner.
I'm sure someone is going to point out that I shouldn't fill my car up, but it's a hire car as mine is being fixed and it has to be collected full.
Talking of which... I'm a bit miffed about it. My normal car is a hybrid petrol. Around 60mpg. This car is a Diesel around 50mpg. The difference is about £5 a week, but my insurance company aren't interested as it's only a "minor inconvenience".0 -

            What have I done that’s DFW-esque????!
Bagged myself an all expenses paid 2 week trip to the USA with work!!! :j :j

 :T :T :T :j :j :j
In the process I’ve got myself a company Amex (no longer being out of pocket while waiting on expenses to clear!) and a laptop (meaning I can work from home every now and again and may no longer need a weekly bus pass!). Yay, life’s good.
I secretly wish I could fly economy and pocket the extra £2.5k that Business Class costs but hey ho, when am I ever flying Business Class again?! I may as well bl00dy enjoy it this time!
Other things I’ve done:
- Cheapo porridge brekkie
- Packed lunch
- Dinner from stores courtesy of cheap @ldi shop
- Claimed expenses
- Mystery shopping – need to make a phone call
- Sorted out payment for yoga class - £25 coming this way
- See if I can get bday money 2 months early to fit in with trip abroad and my free weekend there
- Sorted yoga class starting in March – a fully-booked yoga teacher is going to send students my way when she can’t accommodate them
- Dropping off OH so he doesn’t need to get 2 buses; will see about a lift home
Catch up soon gang!
