Have temp job in pipeline - affecting benefits?

Hi,
I have been offered a piece of work to do by a friend of a friend who has own company. It will be a 1 off project and I have been offered approx 2k for the work.
What I can't find out is how this will affect my benefits - I know I will lose some but don't know what or how much.
Any ideas?
I get:
Income Support
Carer's Allowance - both because child (5yrs) is on DLA
DLA (Child) (I know this will remain the same)
Housing B
Council TB
Child Tax B
Child B (I know this will remain the same)
If doing the work, means I will lose my carers - does this mean that I will also lose all the rest - child is 5yrs old. I.S is paid because child is 5 but on DLA.
The employer wants to know the best way to pay - a consultancy fee (so 2K in a lump sum) or as an employee over a number of weeks.
There is no chance of staying on, so any advice will be approciated

How long would the project take to complete? Earnings are (usually) taken into account for the period they cover, within reason. 2k in a week is obviously going to have an effect more than 2k would in a period of, for example, 6 months.0
