Npower credit rating and info sharing

Hello,

My first post and asking for help.

I have rented my house out with a letting agent on a fully managed basis while I went travelling overseas for 9 months. The agency promised to sort the change over of all the utilities, but didn't! Long story short...I have just come back to the UK to dozens of letters from solicitors and debt collection agencies demanding payment and threatening court action for the final remainder of my Npower gas bill. Very scary! I immediately telephoned and paid the bill.

But how do I find out if Npower will be sharing this info with anyone else or if it will affect my credit rating? I've searched the site here but can't see any recent info on this topic. I've been an excellent payer until this mess up and I want to insure that it doesn't affect my credit rating. Or does anyone have any ideas on how to get this removed or cleared from my name? I asked Npower when I spoke to them on the phone but the guy just told me to ask CAB!

Please can you help?

Thank you

  • Hi there, the only time Npower would affect your credit rating is if they intended to force-fit a prepayment meter into your property, so nothing should be affected based on what you said. If you want to find out your credit rating, then speak to experian who can tell you, hope this helps :)

Think your talking rubbish, if a person is late, leaves without paying, or defaults they would record missed payments.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Well assuming you did the letting correctly, the tenant would have been responsibel for the bills...

Are you sure Npower use credit reference agencies?

If they do record the information & it is factually accurate you can't have it removed just because you don't like the facts being there for others to see.

You could post a "notice of correction" with your side of the story but it's upto each co. you apply to for credit as to how they interpret what is there.
