Screen Replacement for Samsung Tablet

I dropped my tablet on the ceramic tile floor 
so it needs a new screen. I have bought an LCD screen for the correct model number and its too small so i think i have bought the wrong thing. Can anyone tell me what i need for the outer screen for a Samsung Tab - is it the digitiser screen i need?
