Moving Next to an Aldi!

and if you have never shopped in Aldi before - a couple of tips!
Take shopping bags!
load all your shopping on the belt as fast as possible, then when its your turn put your trolley into the space beside the checkout.
be prepared for your items to go through the checkout at the speed of light! just bung em in the trolley and pack at the shelf provided (it speeds up the checkout process)
Brilliant - I could have done with your advice before I went the other day. I was very confused when there was nowhere for me to pack my shopping as it went though. Luckily the nice man on the checkout recognised me as an Aldi novice and told me what to do. I was glad I had DS with me to help but I will be better prepared next time!0 -
Each store/shop is what You make of it, while I say go Aldi/Lidi for some products I also say no, nada, no thanks to other items especially most vegetables which last two minutes compared to a good quality supermarkets for a few pence more!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0

Thats true, Our Aldi fruit and veg is rubbish. I do however like Aldi very much so it might just be this particular store.
Someone above said that the quality is far better than the basic/value ranges in Sainsburys and Tesco's and I do agree with this.
There are various ways in which Aldi save money and its not to do with the quality of the products barring the fruit in my local store. For instance the don't "give away" free bags, nether do Tesco's for that matter as you can be assured that the cost of their "free" bags is added to the price of the food
The trolleys are coin opporated so the customer puts their trolley back rather than Aldi paying wages to someone to do it for you.
You never see people sat at empty tills waiting for customers, they are always off doing something else.
The shops are smaller so less rates/heating/electric lighting. No magazines on sale or return, no doubt so if they don't sell they have lost the space to sell anything.
They don't take credit cards so no fee's to pay.
Did I say I like Aldi

I've never seen an Aldi, never mind shopped in one. Never seen an Asda, either. I think an Aldi has recently opened on the far side of the Island, and Asda is waiting for planning permission to build a store in town, 12 miles from here, the same distance away as Sainsbury and Morrisons. Tesco and Waitrose are about 14 and 15 miles away, respectively. Just as well we have some local independents and a large Co-op in the village!0

Pay the Aldi a visit! you may be pleasantly surprised!0

Bearcub I'd heard one was being built on your Island so maybe its up and running now;)"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

A bit late now, but I hope at least some of you managed to buy the Mirror today to get a voucher for £5 off a £40 shop. I will be doing a proper meal plan and shopping list tomorrow and getting up there. I will be able to load up on things like their spaghetti (29p) and squash, juice etc for the store cupboard. How sad am i??? I'm actually excited about it!!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

You don't mean Aldi do you?
I'd have used to voucher as well, but its bad news if they are giving away money off vouchers. The price is bound to go on the food in the end
