most routers come with an rj11 cable ....... that doesn't fit into a bt socket without an adapter, hence the need for plugging the router (and optionally the phone) into the filter, which acts as a splitter
Good point (my face plate has an RJ11 rather than a BT6, so I forgot about that). The RJ11 side of the filter is, of course, pass-through.
So to rephrase: you definitely need a filter on every phone, and you might need to use a filter or some other RJ11/BT6 adapter for your router.0 -
OP, you do not say if this has always happened, whether it has just started happening out of the blue, or if you have added some new equipment that may have caused the problem?What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

We had same problem, and it was due to using an old filter (small white box connected to the modem, that you plug through to get to the phone socket) not the one that came in the box with the modem.0
