Watch strap lengths - Grrr

Please please can anyone help.
I am trying to buy a new watch and also geta replacement strap for one that has worn out.
Every retailer I try, in person or online, is unable to explain why they only stock one size(length) strap which is , for me, too short.
I need one about one and half centimetres longer than standard. Online there are very limited varieties of longer lengths (ie brown or black!!) and you'd have to fit it yourself.
I wanted to buy from John Greed whilst their offer is on today but NONE of the watches on their site that i checked gave ANY info on what size wrist the strap would fit. I've even phoned up to ask and their solution? Tell them which watch(es) I am interested in and they'll go away and physically measure it! When I said this was ridiculous, why is such basic info not included they appeared to neither know nor care very much.
Help. I need a new watch!:(

I have many many watches. Normally I buy straps from ebay (so a massive massive choice of sellers worldwide - recently got a lovely stingray strap from Thailand that I just happen to be wearing today) from sellers stating the lengths of straps (my wrist is around 8.75" circumference so I need very long straps compared to standard). I've also bought from http://www.timefactors.com/tfstrap.htm before - they state the lengths of both sections.
Out of interest, what size wrist are you and what sort of length straps do you tend to buy ?

unless it states otherwise I probably would assume a watch has a standard length strap.

  • I have a larger than average wrist and i find local non chain jewellers will fit a new strap with a longer length. Mostly brown or black though.
You could probably pay them to fit one purchased from ebay.
I have a stretch strap on a Rotary watch which broke and was replaced locally for £12.

The whole point is I do NOT want BROWN OR BLACK. Ideally white or even blue but NOT brown or black.

Thanks but too itchy. One of the ones I want to replace is velcro and I find it VERY uncomfortable. Thanks anyway.

I need an actual measurement of 18 cms but also a strap where this leaves enough length to be able to do it up onehanded as I live alone and have arthritis.

My wrist is slightly over 7" so not that much bigger than standard.
I looked at your link but they seem to not have a search facility? Thanks anyway.:)

I have the opposite problem. Tiny wrists which will only fit childs sizes in bracelets and watches. Everything has to be adjusted. I just use my phone as a clock in any case. it is much easier.

Because getting out your phone, activating the screen, checking the time and putting your phone away is sooo much easier than glancing at your wrist.

A couple of Christmases ago I bought DH a lovely Accurist watch (it was a gents), but it had to go back because it didn't fit round his wrist and he definitely doesn't have big wrists!

The watches I have tend to be bracelet type that you can adjust or expandable ones.
