Can i get anyone else to act on my behalf when claiming bank charges?

Hi,
Over the last 5-6 years, i have struggled financially and during various periods been subject to bank charges and catapulted into the monthly cycle of bank charges making me even more broke the next month...so i get more charges again...and so the cycle continues...
This year, i have vowed to get my finances in order and one thing i would like to do is reclaim what i can and preferably put this towards paying off my credit card which is with the same bank...
HOWEVER - this may sound naive (and silly!!) but i dont want to know how much i have lost over the years. Does anybody else feel like this..?? To see the actual figure in black and white would probably make me cry and make me feel a whole lot worse about my rather shabby financial situation.
I understand i can write to my bank and ask for a comprehensive list of charges over this period but i would like to know if anyone can take this up for me on my behalf...?? Look at the correspondence for me, deal with the figures etc etc...??
Any help would be great...
Thanks!

I'm sure one of the cowboy claims companies would snap your hand off. But why pay someone else to do this for you ? It's a waste when it's so easy to do yourself.
But beware, the banks won the court case regarding unfair fees, so any refund might be declined unless you have a very good reason as to why they shouldn't have been charged.
Face up to it, you'll feel much better once you do.0 -
It is unlikely that an ambulance chaser will want to help because there will be nothing in it for them.
You are very unlikely to get bank charges back. You might be able to gate any PPI premiums knocked of the debt but that is all.
If an ambulance chaser takes that on you will have a bill from them but no cash in hand to pay it.0 -
You should be able to claim back bank charges simply by asking the bank for them. This does depend on your own bank and how friendly the staff are!
I know this works in my own situation. I asked in branch and recovered £275 in about 15 mins.Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

OP Since Sep 12- £11,401.13, currently £8,416

The OP doesn't even know how much they've been charged ! They're hardly likely to go in to a branch if they can't bear to look at bank statements are they ?0 -
It was merely a suggestion that its possible to recover the money from the bank direct. I didn't know what I was owed until the staff member went through it with me. You or I have no idea what the OP is likely to do or not.Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

The OP has said that they don't want to know and want someone else to do it for them, thats why they posted in the first place. They don't even want to write to their bank. Can you honestly see them sitting down in a branch discussing this ?
You are right that it is easily sorted, but if you can't even face the thought of writing a letter to ask for statements, then there's no hope really is there ?0 -

It says a lot about public relations with banks when so many of even their own customers are afraid to challenge it, even when the bank might be in the wrong, this is part of the problem, people have been brainwashed into this mindset of "The Bank Almighty Thy Will Be Done":rotfl:, I lost what little respect I had for my bank a long time ago, not so much the people behind the counter, they're just the puppets that are being being dumped on from on high themselves, so are their call center staff, so I'm never rude to them so much but I'm talking about those big over salaried directors whom themselves are too afraid to come out and face their clients, customers etc when the SHTF in their organization!0
