In the context of Europe the UK has done well on the employment front, much better than expected actually.0

The UK put on more jobs in proportion to the economy size than did America last year.
We have record numbers in employment.
We are highest recipient of inwards investment in Europe.
Stock market at new high.

I liked one report I've heard...
The US cut $26bn from spending, hence the economy shrinking.
However, the US added $300bn of debt over the same timeframe.
Mind boggling numbers. Just shows how much smoke and mirrors there are out there, and just how much extra debt it takes to stop a small cut dragging the figures down. Take the $300bn debt creation out of the fiugures? How much woudl the econmy drop then!?0 -

UK retains its lead as a destination for inward investment … but only just.
Germany secured more manufacturing projects from overseas investors than the UK for the first time in 15 years and won twice as many projects from Chinese businesses.
Less than half of major investors found the UK's labour costs appealing, and one in six said the cost and availability of real estate was unattractive, while only 53% found UK corporate taxation appealing.0 -
Oh dear, I wonder what example Hamish is going to use now for his spend spend spend policy which was supposed to fix everything.Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0

It's too early to say whether the US' overt spending has failed - recovery is going to be erratic and won't be in a straight line.
Must be nice to be able to print the world's reserve currency of choice - keeps everyone else committed to a US recovery.0
