what exactly do your credit files say
do they show the missed payments

are you financially linked to your husband

Most card allow your husband can take out a 0% BT card and transfer your debts to his card

there is no such thing as joint credit card: one person is alway the main holder even if some-one else has a secondary card.

Credit cards can only ever be in a single name. Its possible to have a second card holder, but the account holder is the one legally responsible for the debt.

What does your noddle report say?
Are you on the electoral roll?
Why haven't you updated your accounts to your married name? have you been applying in your married name?

Yes, if he can get a card with a large enough limit he would be able to do a balance transfer to cards in your name. He needs to make sure that he applies for a card from a different card provider to you 2.

Changing all your existing accounts etc to your new name could make a difference to being accepted. I would do that now anyway.

Is the virgin card interest free? what are the limits and balances on each card?
If there is room on the card you could maybe see whether virgin would offer you a balance transfer deal to transfer the BC debt on to virgin.

  • thanks going to start ringing now, also with my morgage its in my maiden name, and the deal im on runs out on 20/2/13, should i change it to my married name and add my husband now or wait, sorry all these questions just trying to get straight,,,
  • You can't ring to change your name - they will need to see documentary evidence such as a marriage certificate.
  • i know that with the morgage i have to send evidence , i was referring the ringing round to the cc and other utility's,

You will have to send original marriage certificate or a certified copy to everyone - I know, I've spent the past 18 months doing it, even for phones and some store loyalty cards. It's a real faff, I did my passport 1st, thinking this would be acceptable proof of my name but no, everyone asks for the marriage cert.

Also shares from building society demutualisations etc are held by different companies so you have to do them in addition to the b. societies.

Also every section of hmrc is separate, therefore tax, self employed ni contributions, child benefit, tax credits etc have to be done independently. Faff, faff, faff :rotfl:

It turns out the answer to my problems wasn’t at the bottom of this tub of ice-cream, 🍨 but the important thing is that I tried...
