Some curious points above, but this is correct. Engines are absolutely designed to run flat out. They are testing in this respect.
    When NEW! (perhaps)
You can take any car you like, and run it around the millbrook oval, and it will not overheat unless there is something wrong with it.
    1) First off the Millbrook Oval has a 135 mph speed limit.
They occasionally lift it for testing... but rarely above 150 (I understand)
As such there is no way to test my car flat out at Millbrook even before removing the electronic speed limiter....

    2) see above My car has a speed limiter, its quite simple to get it removed.... so If I then go to a testing track with a 200mph limit and drive at 200 is this in the design spec of the engine or is it limited for a reason?

The fact is if you take a performance car (be it Touring, F1 or WRX) and run it flat out it will break very quickly.....

Now just because a (non performance) car can run flat out legally on roads doesn't mean it won't break or show tendencies to overheat.

Instead imagine they have given you a bit of extra power that can be tapped on occasion but driving flat out the whole time is not part of the design....they have provided a handy way to tell.... they provide a temperature gauge that say's 'back off'.

So the vehicle is not overheating, simply running at a higher than expected temperature... The dealer agrees to give you an easy life and just refund you and in return you tarnish it by making it difficult for them to sell, despite clearly not having a clue how it should run.

Yet your asking if you should let them off the hook...classic!

    +1

What people forget sometimes about motorhomes, is that they are a van with cupboards in the back.

If this was a standard 2001 Ducato van, without cupboards, it would be worth £300!

What I am trying to say is, the £14,995 asking price arises from the habitation facilities, it's not the engine that you are paying for - as such, it can not be compared to a car worth £15,000, that you would expect to be pretty good quality.

I think the dealer hasn't been too unfair here, and you are now interfering in matters that don't concern you. I wouldn't be surprised if he/they decided to avenge your actions in some way.
And that my son, is how to waft a towel!

To be fair to the OP this is the second post that makes it sound like they just walked into the dealership and recieved a big bag of cash within five minutes.

    this is despite saying:

So it doesn't seem all that amicable or easy!

Having taken a use car dealer to court and got 2/3rd of my money back after 6 months of hell.... believe me that sounds easy!
