My wife and I are celebrating 10 years of marriage this year and we have 2 weeks set aside at the end of May for a holiday for just the two of us.
We are thinking of doing a multicentre holiday. We'd like to go to Vegas, but we're not big gamblers so 3-4 days there is fine.
We'd like to see the Grand Canyon. We'd also like to spend some time in San Francisco / Los Angeles.
Is this a bit ambitious for two weeks?
Any suggestions over which tour operators might be good for this?
Thanks in advance.

Just about doable

DIY is best:D:D
Thanks in advance.
Lots of threads on this kind of USA trip + the Vegas thread
DIY is easy to do-just decide where you want to go and then fly into one Airport and out of another (Open Jaw ticket-just as cheap)
Flying into LAS tends to be more expensive than into say LAX
You do not need a car in SFO (nor Vegas TBHO)
GC you should spend at least a night there-though it's expensive if you stay at the canyon
LA is a dump-leave as soon as you can0 -
Everything Blindman says ^^^^^^^^^
Do-able in 2 weeks, but not much time anywhere and you may miss lots of stuff worth seeing/doing, if you can manage 3 weeks it'll be less of a rush.
LA - Vegas - San Fran is sometimes known as the 'Golden Triangle', if you want to fly into one city and out of another you just need to decide which side of the triangle to miss out.

Whoops - that's a failure of my geography - just looked at a map! I did mean the Grand Canyon rather than the Rockies!

End of last year i did a week in Canada, then went onto another week in Vegas & SF.I spent 4 nights in Vegas which i thought was more than enough, though i didnt go out to Grand Canyon. But for Vegas itself i though 4 nights was enough,in truth i thought it was abit of a dump,as is LA.But I still think the whole there was more to do in LA I spent 4 nights there as i won a competition, but think i could have easy spent longer, but it depends on what you enjoy doing and seeing. But on a whole very do able in 2 weeks, but im the kind of person that comes home to rest and sleep!0

Grief:eek: Where did you stay? What did you do?
as is LA.
At least we agree on that
But I still think the whole there was more to do in LA
Are you serious

Was it for collecting SUN tokens?

Each to their own I suppose:cool:0 -
With two weeks to cover that I think you might be looking at a day trip to the Canyon but I agree with blindman that spending at least a night there is preferable as you would see the sunset and sunrise at the canyon which can be amazing. I agree about LA as well. Never found much to do there unless you want to see one of the Studio tours. San Francisco is well worth the time but remember to book Alcatraz well in advance if you want to do that tour. Vegas is worth a few nights. You could try and get some cheap Cirque de soliel tickets for one of their many shows there before you go. I went to see Kai which was well worth it. If you were interested you can also do Yosemite on a day tour from San Francisco. That is using coach and train.0

Universal Studios in LA is good. I really like Vegas definitely worth a visit. And you could do a 1 day or overnight trip to the Canyon.
You can book this all yourself no need to use an agent or tour company.0 -
I'm not a gambler but love Vegas. Lounge by the pool by day. Walk around with a few cold ones (bought at the gas station) watching people lose money at night.
LA isn't great. I'm actually in a hotel in Norwalk tonight. There are some nice areas but it takes an age to get between them due to the traffic.
A few year back I did Vegas / Yosemite (to break up the drive from Vegas to SF) / San Fran / LA in 2 weeks. If I was you I'd fly in to SF (or Vegas). 3 nights if SF, 7 nights if Vegas. Drive to Yosemite (breathtaking. More impressive than Grand Canyon IMHO), 2 nights. Drive to SF / Vegas. Spend the remainder of the time there. I did a day trip to the GC. Was pretty pricey but was pretty cool.0 -

Whatever you decide, avoid tour operators like the plague.....they'll screw you for the price.
I would recommend driving from San Diego to Las Vegas and then on to San Francisco.
LA is a hole and San Diego will give you a much better starting point.0
