self employed & employed paperwork

I am currently self employed only 11 hours per week but will soon be getting another job which will be employed about 12 hours per week (although I could ask to be self-employed). I am a bit confused as to how I go about who i inform how to fill in tax return what tax i would pay and national insurance and would i be better off being totally self employed or both employed/self-employed. I currently have a natinal insurance exemption certificate.

  • You dont get a choice if you are self employed or not, if they give a choice then you're not really and they may well become liable for Employers NI etc

The SA form has sections for employed and self employed life. You declare the amounts for each which includes the Tax and NI already paid for your employed life and it factors the over all amount due and nets off what has already been paid.
