in Credit cards
Hey, I'm new here so I hope I'm posting in the right place.
I've been trying to get some sort of credit for a while now (eother a pay monthly scheme or a credit card) but I've always been unsuccessful. I recently signed up to Noddle, the free Credit Report site and I now know why.
I had a bank account that I was switching from in December 2011. My new account had been set up and my Direct Debits had all been transferred. However, my old bank decided to try paying one of the DD's which failed as I cleaned the account out.
I then incurred a £35 charge which I refused to pay and kept disputing this with them and eventually in March 2012 this was refunded when they finally realised that I actually requested all my DD's to be cancelled in December. Upon being refunded I asked them to close my account which they did.
However, I've now noticed that from December 2011 till when the dispute was settled, I had a negative sum in the bank of £35 which has lead to 9 default's on the account and a credit score on 1/5
How can I get these removed from my credit report? Would I need to do it via Noddle (and would it reflect on other sites such as Equifax and Credit Expert?) or would I need to deal with my old bank again to get this resolved? Or would I have to call all the companies I had DD's with and get them to confirm that they were indeed paid on time?
Thanks

Contact the old bank as they are the ones reporting the default. Next time you switch banks try to avoid the time of the month that DDs get paid, if this is not possible then you'll just have to leave enough money in or at least have an agreed overdraft.0

Send them a complaint, in writing, asking them to correct your credit file. Easy to fob you off on the phone, in writing there are clear procedures to follow and you have a trail of evidence.
Obviously include the full story.:beer:0 -
Im sure its in the T&Cs that banks will not be held responsible if DDs are missed whilst using their switching service.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

Notify the old bank that you want these removed and also update note on CR to state in dispute0

Its normal practise to advise that when switching your account that you leave enough money in both accounts to cover direct debts and standing orders during the transfer period. They may use this as a defense but as you've already been refunded for the charge id go with a written complaint asking for the defaults to be removed0

And get some compensation, around £100, they wont offer it to you but it is normal practice.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
