Asbestos removal gone wrong

Hi
We're about to start renovations on our house.
We had some artex ceiling containing asbestos that needed removing. The company we used told us we could store our belonging on the first floor of the property while they worked on the ground floor.
We returned to day to find that everything upstairs is covered in a millimiter of dust.
I'm freaking out, but they are assuring me that it's not asbestos dust, that they will test the air and make it right... Can they really? Will my matress ever be safe to sleep on again?
Can i still wear my clothes? Read my books? Go through my paperwork without risk?
Help and advise needed please!

I don't know if you can still wear your clothes/sleep on mattress etc, but it certainly doesn't sound as if they carried out the work properly.
When we had our kitchen ceiling replaced, the contractors covered everything with plastic, all work tops, the floor, all cupboards etc. They covered EVERY entrance to the kitchen, so that dust couldn't escape. They also created a special sort of 'tunnel' that they used.
There was no way that any asbestos dust could escape into other areas of the house (and we don't have a door on our kitchen, or into the dining room).
We didn't have to empty all the cupboards, we left all our belongings in the other room.
If done 'properly' there was no way that any could escape.
Are they licensed to carry out the works?0 -
Apparently, the dust went through the floorboards.
They are licensed.
They say their special hoovers will remove all traces of asbestos....0 -
Ah the great asbestos scam yet again.0

I though they were unprofessional in performing their services. In case of hiring an authentic asbestos removal company, they cover each and everything with proper plastic sheets.
Ah that was actually an asbestos scam. :mad:0 -
