cancelling payments

:money:I have been a bit of a tart with my car insurance renewal which cover starts again next week. I currently have a multi car policy with Admiral so I tried Direct Line and the came in £400 cheaper. I paid Direct Line today on my credit card

Next step, was to phone Admiral and cancel before the renewal comes into force. Guess what? Admiral match my cheaper quote from DL.:)

My problem is I would like to stay with Admiral (both policies very similar) So can I cancel my credit card payment to DL and take up the new Admiral quote?

Its not nice but is it fair?:money:

  • You will still be within the cancellation period with DL, so yes, you could cancel. But check this with them before you pay Admiral as well.

If you arranged the direct line insurance by phone (is there any other way?) you will have a cooling off period within which you can cancel.

On the other hand, if Admiral are the same price, what is there to gain by staying with them? They have already shown you that they don't care much about existing customers. Next year, Direct Line will bump up your premium so you can switch back to Admiral and get a new customer bonus and maybe cashback via a cashback site?

I agree, Admiral want to get as much cash from you as possible, and when you went elsewhere, they decided to reduce the cost, so they obviously don't care about you.

I'd stay with Direct Line and then offer to move back to Admiral next year when they hike the price as your no longer a new customer.
  • Agree with Hominu - why did they not give you their cheapest price on renewal?

No you can't cancel the credit card payment....

What you would need to do is contact DL and cancel with them and they would then refund you.
Of couse less any fee they decide to levy:rotfl:

  • Admiral charge a feel for taking payments by credit card. It was 5.9%

That might be something else to take into account.
