TV & Laptop Screen Settings For Energy Saving

Hi fellow money Savers!

I lost my job :( and have been going around the house making changes to save money. I now want to alter the screen setttings on my TV & Laptop in order to reduce energy consumption. I'm clueless on the settings and looked in the manual and did a google but have not been able to work out what I should do!

Which of the screen settings are most important for reducing energy consumption? And what settings would u recommend?

I'm thinking Contrast, Brightness and Backlight are probably the key ones???

Is sharpness relevant to power consumption or should I just set that to whatever looks best?

I already do the obvious things like adjusting the sleep settings on my laptop and turning off the appliances when not in use.

I would really appreciate your advice.

Best Wishes Missy :A

You didn't need to post the question three times.
  • Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I wasn't sure which was the right place to post it, and I didn't realise people are often reading several different boards on the same day. Please accept my appologies!

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Best Wishes

I would concentrate on heating/lighting/cooking before I'd worry about a laptop - one kettle with more water in than you need boiled will keep your laptop going for a week

brightness, but the cost savings are miniscule compared to the average utility bills.

As above. You'll save a few quid as in less than a tenner over the course of a year.
