    In Task Manager you may need to click the "Show processes from all users" option to reveal the culprit. Then you may need to click on the CPU column in Task Manager (you may need to do it twice), to sort the task with highest CPU to the top.

    I had one window, two tabs open..

    just one user setup. perplexed why 5 x 'ieexplore.exe' running??

    I have got on a stand now, hopefully more air getting in.

    Looks like IE has developed a memory leak of some sort. I had 10 tabs open this morning when looking at this and I was using 300mb. What browser version are you on?

    IE9, with windows 7 home premium. factory nstalled software, afaik- laptop bought 2nd hand..
