    BTW
Did you see the recent (ends 31st May ) promo for the American Airlines AMEX CC from MBNA?

35,000 miles up for grabs  which I'm sure you could utilise sometime.

I've got one and Mrs B has just been accepted for hers :D

That is a REALLY good promotion, especially when you only need 40000 miles for a free (+ taxes) flight !
Sadly, I've already got an AA AMEX card, which I use to keep my AAADvantage mile 'live'. At some stage I'll have to cancel it, wait a while and then reapply when one of these promotions comes up (they do crop up fairly often, but the 35000 miles is the most generous that I've ever seen)
Which hotel did the kittens pick Murphy?

In the end I picked for them and I've plumped for the Double Tree Tropicana -- although my choice has now rec'd the seal of approval from them.

No cunning plan as yet. We are doing a road trip in September , wanting to hire a car from san Francisco to las Vegas for 10 days, but getting bogged down with all the different insurance issue's and wether we have full tank of petrol and stories of the car you booked not available when you get there . Any info would be appreciated.

We did that exact trip in April last year with several stops along the way - Monterey, santa Barbara etc.

Used http://www.carhire3000.com/ and had black convertible mustang.

We picked the car up on Mon morning (after spending the weekend car free as not needed in SF) from depot round the corner from our hotel and dropped off at one of the strip hotels so that we didn't have to trek out to the airport (Treasure island I think) in Vegas 5 days later. From memory it was around £230.

We had no issues surrounding ins, car choice, petrol etc

My kids would plump for that, every time. Purely on the basis of the free chocolate chip cookie at check in :D

    Cancel yours NOW
Apply for the SPG AMEX card and get 20,000 points that can be converted to 25,000 American Airlines miles.
Go via Quidco or TCB to get money back
Once points are gained cancel the card and get a pro rata fee back-You may even make money!

Wait at least 6 months ( I usually wait 9) and apply for an AA card when the bonus is good.

Get Mrs MtC to apply for the AA Amex card NOW

Plan to go to the USA in August 2017 :D

See you in Hopkinsville Kentucky! Or even YellowStone NP

Head for points has the details of CC points etc.

I've had one before. 1 case in the boot, 1 on the back seat.

    You are an absolute star.

I was initially put off by the £75 annual charge, but if I can cancel the card and get it back pro rata, then the £75 charge has been largely mitigated.
Mrs Cat & I both have the AAAdvantage Amex & Visa cards, so it would be £150 to lay out, not £75, but the addtional miles would take us into the mid season free flights zone rather than just off peak.
Plus, when we resign for AAAdvantage Amex & Visa on a 'silly promotion', we'll be laughing :D.

Nice idea for the total eclipse, but the islands of Hawaii are a more probable destination

Peculiarly enough, I can't recall seeing that thread :D.
    Cheers Blindman.
The last time I ran it as a trial, I could get a return trip to Hawaii for 40000 miles, the same as if I was flying to NYC. I would also have the choice of AA, BA or Iberia planes, although the taxes vatied enormously between carriers (IIRC, AA as the cheapest by far. Because the tickets are issued from Ireland ?)

All good stuff to look forward to:beer:
